INTRODUCING CSR TO THE PAKISTANI MEDIA

With Amir Jahangir at the helm of affairs, SAMAA TV has numerous first-ever initiatives to its credit. It is the first media channel in Pakistan to launch a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program which is a pioneering effort by any media group to look beyond their own immediate, short-term profits. As envisioned by Mr. Jahangir numerous projects have been undertaken under the ambit of the CSR program to improve the status of health, education, environment and other sectors in the country through direct involvement of the communities. The various initiatives taken under the CSR project (details for which are given below) provide striking examples of this commitment towards employing the broadcast media, not merely for entertainment and information but education and enlightenment of the community. In both national and International forums, Mr. Jahangir has relentlessly advocated a strong and convincing case for stepping up efforts for the greater good of the country in an effort of, for and by its own people.

Despite challenging environments, bureaucratic red tape and political instability, Amir Jahangir has successfully managed to build trust among the stakeholders, retain viewership and business revenue through work excellence, initiate sustainable and innovative projects for the public goodwill and maintained organizational integrity.

All of the above is not possible without the organization being run by a dynamic, flexible and ethical leader with high moral standards, excellent foresight and astute vision. He has been awarded by the Government of Pakistan, UNICEF and the Asian Forum for Corporate Social Responsibility for his innovative initiatives which have benefited the socio-economic standards of the people of Pakistan.
