I-SAMAA: RECOGNIZING THE IMPORTANCE OF CITIZEN JOURNALISM

Another such pioneering effort that bears testament to the creative vision of Amir Jahangir is his role in promoting and strengthening the scope of citizen journalism.

SAMAA TV is the first ever TV channel in Pakistan to launch a dedicated online portal for Citizen Journalism under the title of I-SAMAA. Mr. Jahangir has, through this platform, introduced different categories of reporting such as Terrorism, Innovation, Health, Education, Entertainment, Sports and Human Interest.

One of the most important aspects of the I SAMAA initiative is the empowerment of the local communities, as it has through the social media reached out to even the smallest communities across Pakistan and reported on stories which have been ignored by mainstream media. SAMAA will soon be introducing an outreach program which involves going to universities and educating the youth on Citizen Journalism.
